November 7 Election
Endorsements
Governor: Rich Witney, green party. Although many people believe that a vote that
is not democratic of republican is a “wasted” vote, in actuality it is
not. A vote for green is a vote for
change. You may not realize it but it is
costly to get on the ballot in Illinois
for minor parties, this is the first time that the greens have appeared
statewide on the ballot. If the greens receive 5% of the vote in the election
(which they are expected to do) they will qualify as a “major party” and as a
result have the number of signatures dropped to appear on the ballot from
25,000 to 5,000. Also green party
candidates would qualify for debates.
Treasurer: Alexis Giannoulias, democrat. I am endorsing Ginannoulias because I believe
that because he is not a career politician and brings valuable work experience
he will work well.
Attorney General: Lisa Madigan, democrat. Madigan has held a successful tenure as
attorney general, she has strengthened regulations on sex offenders, the environment,
and aided law enforcement.
Secretary of State:
Jessie White, democrat. Jessie White inherited a corrupt secretary of
states office when he took over after Ryan.
White has worked hard to improve the roads of Illinois.
Comptroller: Dan Hynes, democrat. Hynes has a lead a successful term in office,
he has the unique ability to work across
party lines.
Congressional
Election (13th): Judy
Biggert, Republican. My initial plan was
not to vote for incumbent Biggart, but upon researching her positions I believe
that she deserves a vote. Biggert has
advocated alternative energy, supported bike paths, and has brought home way
too much money to the 13th district. I believe that she is better qualified than
her rival Joseph Shannon.
Congressional Election
(6th): Tammy Duckworth, Democrat.
Environment: she supports
alternative energy, decreased dependence on foreign oil, and increased fuel
economy standards. Roskam lacks an
effective stance on the issue, he believes in green spaces and recycling.
Economy:
Duckworth recognizes that Americans are faced with outsourcing and cuts in
pensions. She also recognizes that America has the
greatest deficit in our history; if we are able to cut back on this deficit we
may avoid problems in the future.
DuPage County Board—4th
District (2 year term)
Richard Dunn, Democrat. His stances are: reduce taxes, alternative
energy in DuPage County, protecting property owner rights
though grandfather laws, increased tree planting, bike paths, town hall
meetings, whistle blower protection.
DuPage County Board—4th
District (4 year term)
Jerry McBride. He appears to have been semi-sucessful in his
work in the past.
Propositions: DuPage
County Forest Preserve District: Vote for forest preserves! These lands enhance our community, give us a
place to relax, and help curb urban sprawl.
